VSC FAQs 2024

Frequently, and extremely niche, questions answered here.

When is the VSC?

Training starts 29th April 2024.
Comp day is Saturday June 8th 2024.
You’ll wanna mark that whole day off your calendar.

How long does the comp take?

A few hours, depending.
Expect to be in the gym 8am - after lunch.
We all hang around for all the events to cheer on our friends!

When do I get my t-shirt? Are they cool?

When you check in for the event on the day you’ll get your tee. And of course they’re cool, what would you expect?

How many events are there on the day?

There are 3 events

  • deadlift

  • pull-up (or variation)

  • 5 minute snatch

There’s also sometimes maybe a secret event…
You know what? Forget I said anything.

Can I pick and choose which event I take part in?

Well, no.
Here’s why:

I'm freaking out cause I can’t do a pull up??

It’s cool, we all couldn’t do a pull up at some point.
We have 6 weeks of training to see where we get to.
On comp day, you can opt in for whichever movement you like:

  • passive hang

  • flexed arm hang

  • chin-up max rep

  • pull-up max rep

The movement you choose will determine which division you take part in.

So what’s the go with the divisions?

For the first time in the history of the whole world ever,
we aren’t categorising attendants by binary genders.

Instead, we are considering other factors such as:

  • Skill level

  • Body weight

  • Preferred movement option

We have made this decision based on our community values.
If this raises more questions for you, please get in touch, we’d love to chat!

At the end of the day, we are seeking the best from each individual.
It’s cheesy, but everyone is a winner in our books.

What division should I go for?

We’ll help you get categorised once you’ve signed up and got moving.
We can work out specifics closer to, or on the day.

Can I still train with my friends in class?

Heck yeah!
We’ve aligned your personal programming with our class programming so everyone is doing similar stuff.

You can attend class times as usual, wielding your secret weapon (your very own program) so you know exactly what movements, how many of them and at what weight.

What happens if I can’t perform an event or can’t do the exercise properly?

Look, we are all just here to do our best.
Let’s work with what we’ve got.
You don’t have to be a competitive athlete to do this thing.
We have plenty of options on the day to make sure everyone is included and feels like they can rise to the occasion to be the very best version on themselves.

When do we get our personalised, extremely cool programs?

Soon after signing up.
Our team will make sure you’re clued up!

Before the programming begins, you will be asked a few questions about where your movements are at so far.
This is why testing week before the program starts is so important!
More on all this later.

Why should I bother with this?

There are so many reasons why this style of training and even the comp day itself can be good for you.
Commitment, self improvement, focus and community engagement are just some.
